Position Overview
The Vice President of Election Services leads the strategic and operational direction of Fort Orange Press’s election services division. This executive role is responsible for overseeing end-to-end election printing and mailing services, client engagement, operational excellence, compliance, and innovation. The VP will drive strategic growth initiatives, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver exceptional client outcomes, all while managing high-performing teams and ensuring the secure and timely execution of election projects.
Required Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience in election services, printing, and mailing operations.
- Deep understanding of election regulations, compliance standards, and USPS procedures.
- Demonstrated success managing high-pressure, deadline-driven projects.
- Strong project management and workflow optimization capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and project management software.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Ability to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Client/Partner Relationship Management
- Foster long-term relationships with election officials and government clients across multiple jurisdictions.
- Understand client-specific election requirements and ensure all services meet legal and technical specifications.
- Serve as the primary executive contact for high-level client interactions and resolution of issues.
- Maintain and strengthen strategic partnerships with key voting system providers and compliance stakeholders to ensure ongoing support and continuity.
Operational Oversight
- Review the scope of all contract awards and translate them into actionable deliverables for internal teams.
- Direct the planning, production, and quality assurance of all election printing and mailing services, including ballot design and fulfillment.
- Oversee adherence to USPS regulations, mail processing standards, and compliance with all tracking and verification protocols.
- Coordinate seamlessly with Sales, CSR, Prepress, Production, Shipping, and external vendors to meet critical election deadlines.
Strategic Planning & Innovation
- Develop long-term strategies for division growth, technology adoption, and market expansion.
- Identify opportunities to innovate and improve efficiency, security, and accuracy within the election services workflow.
- Participate in budgeting, capital planning, and resource allocation for election-related investments.
Business Development & Communications
- Oversee public communications and risk management strategies related to election services.
- Lead the execution of marketing and sales strategies for the election services division.
- Manage RFP responses, client proposals, pricing models, and contract negotiations.
- Strengthen brand visibility and thought leadership in the election services industry.
- Represent the company at specified trade shows, meetings, and presentations.
Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance.
- Support talent development, recruitment, and performance evaluations.
- Resolve operational or interpersonal challenges professionally and constructively.
Compliance & Security
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local election laws and regulations.
- Oversee ballot integrity, system maintenance, and physical/digital security protocols.
- Maintain and audit process controls to ensure election readiness and trustworthiness.
Reporting & Analysis
- Track key performance indicators, delivery timelines, and financial performance.
- Deliver post-election reporting for both internal evaluation and client review.
- Continuously analyze operational data to drive improvements and risk mitigation.
